The A1 Motorway in Poland extends from Gdansk in northern Poland to the Czech Republic border and is part of European Road E75 which provides access to Southern Europe. The A1 motorway will cross the A2 and A4 motorways in Poland. It is therefore part of Poland’s international route connection. Intertoll had a pivotal role in the successfully signing of the Concession Contract in 2004 and achieving financial close in 2005.

Project consists of 90 km of tolled A1 Motorway south between Gdansk and Nowe Marzy and includes 5 interchanges, 86 bridge structures, 6 service areas, 2 Operation and Maintenance Centres.

Intertoll Polska Sp. z o.o. (100% Intertoll Europe ZRt. affiliate) is in charge of the operation and maintenance of the motorway as well as the manual toll collection (a closed system, consists of 2 mainline toll plazas and 5 ramp toll plazas. Total number of toll lanes: 40 (16 entry and 24 exit lanes).

Other roles of Intertoll in this project:

  • Intertoll Capital Partners (ICP an Aberdeen – Intertoll JV) is a 15% shareholder in the Concession Company (GTC-Gdansk Transport Company);
  • Intertoll Construction Sp. z.o.o. (100% Intertoll Europe ZRt. affiliate) is in charge of the design, supply and commissioning of the toll collection and motorway management equipment.
